Announcing Financial Assistance for Camp New Friends
Camp New Friends, part of the Brainy Camp network, has a history of changing the lives of children with NF. The week-long program is staffed by neurologists, nurses, social workers and counselors, all trained in dealing with issues associated with NF. Camp New Friends provides a safe environment for children ages 7 through 17, and is located in West Virginia. It will be held from July 16 - July 22, 2017. For more information, go to the Brainy Camps website by clicking HERE.
NF, Inc. Central Plains is offering financial assistance to help subsidize the cost of the camp and/or travel expenses. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more. Act now, as financial scholarship are limited! All inquiries will be kept confidential.
YOUR Voice Makes a Difference!
Tell our leaders in Washington that NF research funding is important to you! Using THIS simple form, email your senators and state representatives asking for their support for NF Research in the 2018 fiscal year. Some members of congress have begun to circulate Dear Colleague letters requesting $15 million for the Army's NF Research Program in the Defense Appropriations bill. Let's help them express our desire for this critical federal funding!

NF Central Plains gives THANKS to those attended and to those who helped make a successful
Day of iNFormation!
Saturday, April 9, 2016 proved to be a successful day for NF Central Plains. Our hope was to host a day full of information as well as opportunity to meet others in the NF community. That hope became a bright reality for us as our attendance gathered about 30-40 people.
The day featured a welcome and presentation of what NF Advocacy is doing by Executive Director of the NF Network, Kim Bischoff. Followed by a day of presentations from speakers near and far on insurance issues, social challenges/learning disabilities, research updates, Camp New Friends (summer camp for children-teens with NF), and a few personal stories from those who have NF. A light lunch was also served allowing attendees the chance to visit as well as check out the many NF materials on display.
We'd like to give many thanks to Black & Veatch for the use of event space and to the Center for Advanced Professional Studies for preparing publicity materials and the programs.

We are NF Strong!!
The Great Steps4NF Walk is now known as NF Strong 5K! These inspiring events that take place in communities nationwide create strong bonds that build a supportive NF community. The goal of these strong communities is to rally together and become one great voice in finding effective treatments and an eventual cure for NF. The walks are a great way to involve family and friends and meet others who are affected by NF, all while raising awareness of this disorder and to create funding for NF research.
Save the Date! The 2018 NF Strong Walk is on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at Macken Park - 800 Clark Ferguson Drive, Kansas City, Missouri. Check out our new NF Strong website HERE!
