Drum Roll, Please!

NF Central Plains hosted a program for both adults and children, together and separately, in March.  The evening in Kansas City started off with a spaghetti dinner for all attendees.  Afterwards, the adults moved to their own space for a discussion with Dr. William Rosenberg, neurosurgeon and founder of the Center for the Relief of Pain.  At the same time, children of all ages enjoyed the musical entertainment provided by Johnny and Adam’s Rhythm and Music.  The program concluded with the adults joining in the jam session.

Dr. Rosenberg described the non-traditional options available for pain associated with nerve damage and tumors, from topical compounds to surgical implants.  The participants gained valuable information and had the opportunity to get their numerous questions answered. The younger attendees tried all sorts of percussion instruments and banged on the colorful drums to Johnny’s lively guitar-playing.

The program was made possible through the generosity of the friends and family members of Keith Keirsey, an inspirational member of the local NF community who passed away last year.  It was the first of a series of educational programs that will take place in his memory.

We are NF Strong!!

Walkers found success at the 2019 #NFStrong 5K! These inspiring events that take place in communities nationwide create strong bonds that build a supportive NF community.  The goal of these strong communities is to rally together and become one great voice in finding effective treatments and an eventual cure for NF.  The walks are a great way to involve family and friends and meet others who are affected by NF, all while raising awareness of this disorder and to create funding for NF research.
